i’m sure you read that title and thought to yourself, “what? seattle is not a sunny place. katie is crazy.” while i may be slightly borderline insane, i did not invent or imagine the fact that it did not rain ONCE while we were in seattle this past weekend!

do you see any clouds? yeah, me neither.

anyway, we didn’t just go to seattle in search of wet weather. really, we were up there for our open house! which, if you think about it, is a much better reason anyway.

dallin, dallin’s old roommate joe, and i flew to seattle on saturday morning. dallin’s other old roommate jacob and dallin’s brother dayton came to pick us up. our next few hours were dedicated to an impossible task- getting jacob engaged. ok, considering he has a beautiful girlfriend and that they were meant for each other, the task really wasn’t that impossible. but jacob needed our help. and help we did. basically, serenity didn’t know that jacob was even in washington. surprise was key. so we dropped jacob off at a strategic location, then picked serenity up and made up a reason to take her to the strategic location, where jacob proceeded to sneak up behind her, literally knock her over with shock, tie up her hands, move away from the cameras, and pop the question. thankfully, all our hard work did not go to waste, and she said yes! we are so happy and excited for them, and it was fun to share in the experience (although serenity says it’s scary how good we all are at lying…)

anyway, with the beginnings of a new wedding came the endings of an old one. we drove to dallin’s parents’ house and got all ready for the open house. it was fantastic to get to wear my dress again! dang, i love that thing. when everyone was all ready to go, we headed over to the lodge, which was just right for our special event. there was a nice separate theater-type room for playing our wedding video on, and a nice centralized entryway place for dallin and i to stand in. i met a lot of new people (in fact, i didn’t know anyone there!) but it was great that they came and supported dallin and i. we got more presents, ate more food, took some more pictures, the usual. sorry i don’t have any pictures to post right now…i will as soon as i get some from my mom! for now, you’ll just have to trust me that it was a beautiful, fabulous night! we are really grateful to dallin’s parents for planning the whole thing!

the next few days were great also. we went to church sunday, and then dallin and i drove around with my parents for a bit before heading back to his parents’ house for a father’s day bbq. even MORE good food, and a chance to enjoy the nice weather. we rode around with my parents on monday, checking out some stuff downtown and what not. my parents left that night (they almost didn’t…but they did!), and then we spent tuesday hanging around dallin’s parents’ house and going to snoqualmie falls, which is gorgeous. on wednesday right before we left, we also got the chance to go do baptisms at the seattle temple, which was great! and then we flew home and… we’re hot.
